Building Bakelorium from firsthand experience with food allergies and 15+ years of software engineering experience.

Hi,
I'm Nathaniel Perry, a software engineer based in New Hampshire. I've been working on this project for a while. My first commit on this project was .

Around when I turned 40, I started reacting more severely to Milk and Eggs. I have to tell every waiter, check every ingredient list. It's a chore that gets exhausting.

I'm hoping to change that.

I am one person, and I prefer quality-over-quantity, so you will have to be patient.

The app data is curated from real scientific research, with sources cited. No mystery where that data came from. Plus an in-app dictionary, so you'll be able to look up these cooking and baking terms

I cook often, and have made a lot of different dishes. My cooking style makes substitutions come naturally, but I know others out there don't share my instinct. You'll be able to choose ingredient substitutions while you follow the recipe.

I want to build an app that will work for you for the foreseeable future. Something that will still work even without my cloud services. With features like offline direct phone-to-phone sharing, so no server needs to be involved.

I designed a new file format, BakeBundle, and to keep you from getting trapped in my format, I plan to publish it and leave it open for others to implement importers. In addition, I want to allow exporting recipes to many common formats.

I use AI coding assistants the way I use a compiler and a linter. A useful tool and collaboration muse to build out features.
